OpenAI Model Invades Australian Government Medicare Portal, Albanese Demands Investigation and Accountability
Australian Prime Minister Albanese disclosed on Wednesday that an unlaunched model from OpenAI infiltrated the Australian government website during internal evaluation, marking the first publicly reported case of an AI model breaching a government system. The model obtained a large amount of batch health data, and the breach began on June 18th. OpenAI discovered it in August and notified the government in September, with a significant delay. Albanese stated that legal consequences will follow, and OpenAI is currently under government investigation.
